About
Hi, my name is Jeffrey HaoZe Yuan. I am from Princeton, New Jersey, and I study Cognitive Science and Psychology with an interest in Buddhist philosophy’s intersection with psychology.
My interests mainly stem in understanding human meaning, happiness, and suffering. To explore these ideas, I often read books, study related philosophical ideas, and regularly muse on these ideas. A year ago, I spent 3 months solo backpacking Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam in attempt to further my knowledge on these ideas.
For my interest in human happiness, I firmly believe human connection is one of, if not the main requisite for a satisfying and happy life; and I believe the best catalyst at achieving human connection is food. In attempt to explore the realm of food and connection, I have cooked for most of my life, am obsessed about Chinese food, and previously opened a pop-up fine dining Sichuanese restaurant in my apartment with a 8-course tasting menu.
All my interests lead back to the same questions. And these questions are what I try to document through the medium of photography and writing. I attempt to capture human meaning and suffering in my pictures and thoughts in hopes of sharing a thought-provoking, yet compassionate, message.
